With the outbreak of the FLU, we have been dealing with lots of cancellations and troubles with clients, trying to make effort to help our clients rebook or reschedule a date that works for both parties. This has connected us with one of our Canadian clients who is forced to reschedule back home, in Calgary. Her tour operator cancelled ALL flights to Mexico from April 28 - June 4th. This has to be one of the most sensationalized and ridiculous things to happen in my entire lifetime.
Regardless, we are keeping our heads above water here, just looking for a little help from some FF homies. Sol is looking for possibly 2 helpers for her wedding on Friday June 12, 2009, in Calgary. Not sure what church or where at this moment, but we do know that the plan has quickly evolved and this is our next step, looking for help. Any 2nd shooters available there? Anybody know of anyone? We are looking for a 2nd shooter, preferably using their own equip, Canon preferred. Prime shooter preferred but beggars can't be choosers :) Also, Sol is looking for a personal assistant who will assist with aiming a flash, carrying a bag and some lenses.
If anyone is interested, please send us an email to info at delsolphotography.com.
Recently, Sol shot a few awesome FF images. She is such a genius at disguising the flash, next to the contrast of the hot sunlight. I don't have her specs on these images at the moment as I am traveling and she sent me these over email, resized and without EXIF data. I'll post specs later...
She is pretty awesome at this technique and hopefully, with a little more exposure to the art, you can benefit from her processes :)

Here are a few more of her contributions to FF on this same subject in past.
Cheers & thanks for listening :)

Wow !!! why can’t there be such a stunng venue here!!!!
You are going to love having Chrystal work with you as your assistant! She has second shot some weddings with me and I think she trumps me everytime! You will love her outgoing personality! She is so much fun!
Thanks for all the awesome photographers that emailed me offering help. I’m all taking care of., Cyler Parent from Forgotten Studios will be my second shooter, and Chrystal Beson will be assisting me with the “flash flavor” part.
So, Calgary here I come!.. (soon… )
GRACIAS!!
Hey Matt!
Love your blog, and have pointed people in it’s direction for some time now in different talks/seminars that we’ve given. You and Sol truly do some fantastic work. :)
Totally bummed, for how the swine flu has negatively impacted your business. I can’t imagine. It’s a tough year economically and to have this happen only adds to the problem. However, I think looking at it from another perspective if the government had done nothing and not advised people and this situation had turned out differently with thousands of people sick and dying all of us would have asked why more was not done to discourage people from traveling, etc etc.
As much as it has hurt local economies, I think the CDC and WHO did the best they could with the information they had in advising people. Let’s all just be grateful that this wasn’t something worse than it was. The benefit of hindsight is an unfair advantage when judging those who weren’t blessed with it. :)
Wish I could help out guys, but I’m on the other side of the country in Toronto as well. Calgary should be a nice change from the Riviera! :) Would love to help out if you guys are in Toronto ever.
Unfortunately I’m not based in Calgary (although I am in Canada). I’ll pass this note along to other photographers I know who may have contacts in Calgary and have them get in contact with you. Sorry to hear that our government/tour operators are forcing you guys into a difficult situation. If you’re forced into the Toronto area at all, I’d be more than willing to hold a flash and other gear (Unfortunately I’m a Nikon shooter). Best of luck Sol!!
hope things at the riviera get back on track soon, i haven’t found someone with flu since the paranoia began and now theres even more infected people in the US than in Mexico… and even with all the sick people in Mex, US and Canada combined dont even represent .002% of any contry. At the end, it was just a flu… Good Luck guys everything will go back to normal with the cheap luxury hotels down there.
