more SOL inspiration

I was looking over my wife's shoulder as she was working on a recent wedding... She is just on fire with some of her attempts with flashflavor recently. Specifically, I was noticing that she is doing a brilliant job of fooling the eye. I wrote about her attempts to lead the eye out of believing that there is any flash involved in this past FF article. Here, she is at it again with a pretty nice portrait attempt. michellematt220.jpg Sol used a full power flash with a 1/4 CTO warming gel. Slave triggered by pocket wizard. 1/200 f22 at ISO 100. She was able to under expose the sky by bringing the flash very close to the subject (5 feet or less). The sunburst almost tricks the eye to believe that there isnt any strobe used at all... Well, most pros will know what is going on but to the common observer, its magic :) Same portrait session, another creative usage of light. I really like the lines and dynamic use of light here. Definitely a different way to take a groom's portrait! michellematt223.jpg 1/200 f10 ISO 100 full power flash 1/4 CTO Warming Gel. and one more from that same session.... michellematt228.jpg 1/200 F5.6 ISO 100 full power flash 1/4 CTO Warming Gel. I love the first one. The temperature is so warm on them, and the clouds so dreamy and blue. And you were really able to get the passion of the bride to show.  You have amazing wedding photos, thanks for sharing, and for sharing all of your tips.

OT - maybe it's time for a FlashFlavor take on family group shots - not sexy but certainly worth some thoughts

What intrigues me most is how you manage to have the couple happily waiting while you prepare the light set... Wonderful pics!!!

Sol - Your thought process on these is way out there. Really insightful to view. You and Matt are really setting the pace over there.

Oh my goodness, that second one is amazing!!!

Gorgeous work, Sol!! I love them all--especially the first one. On other note, people generally get excited when they hear you have already shot at their venue. I would rather it be the first time every time. Of course, there's always that one hindsight shot....

Wow! I love these. They are inspiring and it doesn't seem like there was a creative juice hardship.

Thanks guys, it is very challenging to shoot so many weddings in a row , and have the creative juices flowing... My last 3 weddings were in the SAME hotel... can you imagine?? same place..., you better think on new ideas! that's where a little FF can help out... You can see more photos with ff at this wedding at the slideshow: http://www.delsolphotography.com/weddings/michelle&matt On top of that, the next day I had to shoot the same couple for their Trash the dress: http://www.delsolphotography.com/weddings/michelle&mattttd So, new ideas are needed!!!... Please send us some new stuff :)

Beautiful pictures ! I love these colors and the nice flash flavor... I like it so much that I tryed to add a bit of FF at a friend's wedding last week-end, and I loved the result. I managed to backlight a special moment in the evening with my flash and get totally rid of the ambient light. Tell me what you think about it.

The first two images are incredible, I love the feeling of the stone with the contrast of the light and shadows.
