splash of color

This last week, Sol Tamargo & I were in Mexico City covering a traditional Mexican ceremony. What is totally odd about that is the fact that we shoot 50+ weddings in Mexico every year and rarely is ONE of them a Mexican client. These guys had 400 guests with pretty beautiful decor. The bride's preparation took place in her parents home in a very exclusive home in suburb of the city. How many times have you seen the dress hanging? Did you just shoot a snapshot of with available light? I'm sure it was beautiful..... but, did it have flava? I really love Sol's vision here as she took an ordinary moment and added this splash of color with her snooted slave Nikon SB-28 speedlight. The mix of ambient behind the blue just makes this photo for me!

I'm inspired by this as I shoot with her all the time and we totally think differently on every shoot... We will be including this image in her album, full page! Check out a sliideshow from their wedding here: Amaya & Alberto (caution, its 250+ photos), lots of great stuff! We added color to spice up these frames, seen in the following FF posts: Color on the dancefloor & High fashion with color & Color underwater and Color in the hallway If you have experimented with gels, please send them to the Flash Flavor Flickr group or email them to me :) I'd love to see what is happening out there!

Any comments for Sol? She would love to hear your thoughts :) Saludos, Mateo

Bruce, thanks for taking the time to check out our slideshow. For most weddings, we have a team of 2-3 shooters. Our goal is uber dynamic coverage. Our associate Vincent, happens to be a killer photographer. He shoots about 30 weddings per year for our studio by himself with assistant. At this gig, he personally assisted US. With this approach of 3 shooters, we are everywhere, and also very discrete with our coverage. 3 experienced pro shooters during a LARGE ceremony like this and you end up with a killer insane portfolio, missing NADA. Glad you liked! If you want to see more of our full portfolios, both of our blogs have slideshows posted in them from all our gigs: www.soltamargo.com/blog and www.mattadcock.com/blog Cheers & please keep hanging out here :) saludos, mateo

Really enjoyed the slideshow. I've loved looking through your blog for a while now and it's nice once in a while to see a whole shoot to get a full sense of what you're doing rather than just 1 or 2 great shots. So what is your 'full team'? I saw at least 4 different angles inside the church. Was somebody moving up and down the left of the church? How many of you were there?

Thanks for the comments and shout outs! the photographer seen over on the side of frame #182 in that slideshow is our associate photographer, Vincent Guihard. We had our entire team shooting this one. Vincent's work is here: www.delsolphotography.com/vincentguihard

You guys see it, the little details do matter! The Orange and Blue are very cool mixes, even though they are UF and Auburn colors! Kickin as always buddy Chris Collins

What a cool shot. It's fun that you guys balance each other so well with your varying yet complementary styles. You each see scenes in your unique way, but they mesh well. It's fun to hear you share a bit about how each of you approach photography and lighting in particular. Thanks for sharing your vision(s) with all of us. Rachel
