HELP US, PLEASE! Can you get this slideshow to load on your computer and play ALL the way through without crashing or slowing down your machine?
Ok, so we are in the midst of developing a new blogsite / website / new FACE for del Sol Photography. One of the elements we are working on is a new slideshow format. This slideshow is going to be integrated / embedded into our blog posts and have the ability to go FULL screen.
One of the issues we are dealing with is the fact that there are many platforms out there (Windows & Mac) and several browsers that are being used to surf on through to the other side.
We REALLY need your help to let us know if this slideshow loads on your computer(especially PC). I don't just mean the first ten photos.... Please, load this thing and let it play, the whole thing... even if you have to put it in the background and surf other things... Sol has introduced some sound in her slideshow... you can MUTE it by clicking on the speaker icon in the upper left hand side of the screen.
We honestly need your help here, please, give us feedback. ESPECIALLY if you are on PC and are experiencing problems. We want to hear about it. How many photos were you able to download on your slideshow if you actually tried to watch this show???/ What browser are you using? What platform?
Please provide a comment and let us know...especially you PC folks.
This is Sol's best of 2008 slideshow.... Her work is amazing...just WOW WOW WOW! But, we would like to know if you were actually able to see it all? So instead of just clicking the link and enjoying, please actually let us know with a comment that the slideshow WORKED or DIDNT work on your machine....It means more to us than you can actually know!
you can also say HOLA Sol and give her props on the photos, if you wish :) her work is THE BOMB....this girl is on fire!!!
Here are a few of her fav's for 2008.

Your help is greatly appreciated!!! Seriously, more than you know!
Cheers,
matt & sol

Works fine on my PowerBook G4 using Safari 3.2.1. Hope this helps you out. Great shots!!!!
216 lovely photos on a PC. Full screen and normal about 5 seconds per photo. Only problem was no sound.
The slideshow worked great all the way to the end (although its really long), but there was no sound. I didn’t have it muted and my speakers are on. I have windows vista 64 bit.
Ran on my Windows XP PC no problems. 2MB RAM, 4-5 MB ADSL connection. Each slide displayed for a approx. 6 secs, transitions approx 1 sec. As someone else noted the transition were a little jerky i.e. a couple of short stutters. Ran from beginning to end 1 to 216 slides and then looped.
Hope this helps, Peter

Hello Matt and Sol,
First off, your images and the images of those you are hanging with are da bomb. I stumbled across your site while looking for way to increase drama in my images, as you can tell from my site www.michaeldiguidophotography.com they are in need of some FLASH FLAVOR! I took the last two days and started from your very first post and read them all checked out all the slide shows, videos and did a quick look at the websites of people you have featured, bookmarked those and will go back to them...later. I have also been practicing flash flavor at home as I took a break from reading. I will try some of it out this weekend when I shoot my next wedding. The only thing that I think would be a great benefit in the information you give would be to add the “time of day” that the images were shot, to the posts. It would kind of help in the reverse engineering of the lighting setup and what PS techniques were used…
Just a thought.
Absolutely stunning imagery. Bookmark.
Works fine all the way to the end in full screen.
The processor peaks a bit on the transitions but it does not slows the machine.
PC XP Pro SP3, 2Gb, P4 3.0GHz, GeForce 6600, Firefox 3.0.6.
Beautiful pictures. Slideshow was great and worked for me. Windows XP SP2, IE7. I would have liked to see credits for the music though. Perhaps you could email the names of the musicians.
On another note, I am forced to use IE5 on my work PC and the flashflavor site doesn’t work at all. Kind of frustrating b/c I love your site and I would love to be able to read it at work :)
First of all, incredible photography. The slideshow is amazingly well paired; music and photos. (Speaking of which, what is that first piece of music, it’s sensationally mesmerizing?)
Anyway, the slideshow played perfectly in its entirety. I watched it full screen all the way through without clicking through the pics...just letting the slideshow dictate timing. My computer is a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, with 4GB of RAM, Nvidia 8800GT Graphics card. I run Windows Vista 64 and am using Adobe Flash 10. The browser is Firefox 3.06
Oh...my....GOD!!! Gorgeous!!!! Sol, you are the BOMB!!!
No problem with the slideshow. OS 10.4.11, Safari 3.2.1
Runs fine on Vista 32bit Home Premium with FireFox 3.0.5
Works fine on PC running Vista Home Premium 32-bit in Firefox 3.0.5, Internet Explorer 7, and Safari 3.2.1
Works perfect...lovely images. Windows XP service pack 3 . At page 41 and still running smooth......
You people are awesome. Simply awesome. Almost makes me want to shoot weddings…but then I come to my senses. :)
worked fine one my computer its a PC
works on Leopard 10.5.6 on Safari. what is the name of the slideshow app? there’s another app that is similar.
It works fine on a mac book w firefox. My critique is that when viewing on a “slower” connection speed (so that the images don’t load faster than the slideshow plays) it jumps back to the beginning when a file is not loaded completely. This makes it frustrating to watch.
No problem here. Windows XP Pro SP2 with Firefox 3.0.5 with loads of plugins.
Great slideshow! :-)
Beautifully on my Windows Vista Ultimate - Dell Precision M6300 Laptop - Firefox
And it goes without saying it’s stunning work. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Works good on my wifes pc… pentium 4 3.2GHZ 2gb of ram memory…
about the photos… just a big open mouth, speachless
Bo and Patricia from Brasil…
Work great WinXP SP3 and IE 7 fullscreen, mute, everything. But in firefox 3.0 I had problem to load the site and to see the comments form.
Please post the singers name
BTW amazing
That 3rd photo down is absolutely amazing. Keep up the great work.
Cheers
Alleh
worked great on windows xp sp3 and firefox
Thanks for all the feedback, this helps restore confidence that newer machines are handling our requirements.
*We are working on a few thing and worrying about a few things. These last few years have been pretty painful to watch people local in the business rip off our photography. Really sad but so true. Bigger images (currently Horizontals 900x600 or Verticals are 600 x 400). I’m on the fence of being afraid to push photos any bigger as these freaks will print screen and make imagery...just not so nice. Crazy Paranoia....
The skipping past the first image or two rather quickly has happened to our PC a few times and I’ve witnessed it on others. These machines were more than 2 years old, so this is what I’m thinking is happening.
As we move forward and faster with the CPU’s and MAC’s slowly taking market share, we are hopeful this template will work well.
We hope to also add a few more links on this template and possibly customize color....Its being custom designed, so we are happy to see it evolve.
Tremendous thank yous!!! We really appreciate your feedback and patience to come back to FLASHFLAVOR time and time again.... I don’t really know what keeps driving me to post more new and exciting adventures… we are happy to share them with you.
Cheers!
mateo
PS...the mouse activates a watermark when positioned over the photo. Did you catch that?
Dear Sol, the slideshow works fine on my Macbook. I’ll test im my PC later. Congratulations for the great job. The images are amazing!
Sucess,
No problem at all in opera on ubuntu on an AMD Athlon X2 and 4GB RAM.
like your taste in music!
Works on my MacBook Pro!
Nonstop slideshow in my iMac 20¨ 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM, Safari 3.1.2
Nice work! Sol.
Cheers for you and Matt.
Beautiful work. The slideshow played just fine for me - Windows XP Media Center on Chrome Browser. I made it all the way to the end without a hitch. My only nit is that I had to pause the show several times to take care of kids, get food, etc. When I paused the show, the music continued playing, so if you intended to have certain songs play over certain images, that effect was lost. Also, by the end of the show, the music had looped to the first song, I imagine because of the times it continued playing while the show was paused.
works fine on my WinXP, firefox 3.05
but the memory usage of Firfox went from 108megs to 558megs after all the images loaded.
oooops, I thought it was supposed to play as the blog header, my bad… it works
Weird, Firefox 3.0.5 on G5 Mac OS X 10.4.11—and I don’t see no stinkin’ slideshow mang, disappointing, don’t have a clue why I can’t see it…
Worked perfectly on 2 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac with OS X 10.4.11 running Safari.
Windows XP SP3, Firefox 3.04
No Problems! Nice looking slideshow, a lot of photos though!!!
Vista 64bit, Firefox 3.0.5, 4gb ram, quad core processor.
ran fine. used a good bit of resources though.
great shots!
got to 216, all perfect. Perfect timing between slides, all looks excellent.
I’m not certain, but I think that there may be a few repeats in there, 126 included?
winXP SP3; firefox 3.05
Windows XP + FireFox v.3.0.5 Worked perfectly fine!
Amazing photos, beautiful work. You inspire me Sol!
Worked. No problemss. Vista, IE, DSL.
Vista 64 bit and Firefox 3, works great!
The only thing iffy was when it first starts to load, it skips to the next photo the moment it is loaded (so you don’t get to see the one that just loaded), but stopping and going back to the first image was fine.
Windows XP + Firefox 3. Works perfectly.
Works fine on my PC with Vista and Explorer.
Sol, beautiful work.
Slide show functioned flawlessly on Vista+Firefox3.05 with 6GB ram
I understand your desire to protect your work, but your mid-screen logo is overly intrusive. Pick a corner, any corner, if you must.
Sol captured so much emotion in these images, but the subject’s emotion was overridden by my emotion of seeing the del Sol watermark, over, and over, and over again.
I got through them all with no slowdowns. I’m on a Mac OS10.5.6, and Safari 3.2.1
Great photos but lots we to pixelized on my 24 inch screen so you probably should make the show with larger photos… but I guess they don’t load as fast and are more likely to crash a system. :)
Firefox 3.0.5 on Dell Inspiron 9400 (Pentium dual core2 T7200, 2Gb ram) With 6 tabs open, playing slideshow immediately showed % sign as photos loaded. Did this for 1st 4 photos then went back to photo1 and started to play as a slideshow. Got to 46/47 and % loading appeared again. At 51 it went back to photo 1 again, probably because 51 hadn’t begun to pre-load.
Vista + Firefox 3.X. No issues. Beautiful pictures.
Played fine on 64Bit Linux with Firefox 3.0.5, though firefox memory consumption went up to 14.8% with 4 Gigs of RAM. Great images.
PC, XP Home edition SP3, firefox 3.0.5. Core2 Duo at 1.66GHz and 2GB of RAM. I turned the music off so and didn’t go full-screen. Played to 216 and looped nicely. I’ll be watching it through several more times. Stunning. Really wonderful.
This slideshow played very well and impresses bigtime on a 23 inch HD mac screen, the work presented here is fabulous.
I really like the fullscreenoption!
Browser was Safari 3.2.1 on Macbook pro.
Well it ran through smoothly the first time and continually for about 4 hours as I listened to the music and worked on photos on my other computer. This one is a PC with Window’s XP, 2gb ram and 2.8mhz AMD processor.
Loved the pics - have seen some of them at various times over the year - especially the trash the dress video that was awesome. Inspirational. All good stuff and some really creative thinking to bring out original ideas.
Thanks
Hi!
Worked fine on win7 / firefox 3 / opera 9 / IE8
Greetz,
Bela
(P.S Great pictures, but quite a few for a slideshow, aren’t they?)
The slideshow itself worked just fine on my PC running Firefox 3.0.5, except the music started skipping once the John Mayer song started playing and continued for the rest of the show.
Looks like you won’t have a bandwidth limitation either. Tried it in firefox while gaming (playing wow) and the pictures loaded faster than what was playing so it kept up great.
Works fine running on OS X 10.4.11 using Safari 3.2.1 and Firefox 3.0.1. ... and of course, beautiful work!
I just viewed it on a 2 year old PC running dual Xeons 3.6GHz with 2GB available ram using Firefox 3.0.5 with Lightroom opened and it runs just fine. All 216 downloaded before I finished looking at them. Not to mention a ton of fantastic pictures.
I am up to 210+ images and going great on my HP laptop running XP Pro and using Safari as a browser. How many images are they?
Works on my 15” Mac Book Pro on Firefox 3.0.
I am a web developer and most likely your problem is going to be more about people not having the correct version of the flash player or a fast enough connection/computer to keep up with your swf. Photos and music are usually going to end up pretty large. You’ll need to check the size of your swf file or if it is loading images in dynamically be sure your photos and music are properly compressed.
Also if you want to check other browsers and operating systems you can use these online testing tools… http://www.crossbrowsertesting.com/ is the best option but you can also look at http://www.browsershots.org.
Hope that helps, love the work! Inspiring as always and great music too!
Toshiba (PC) laptop
Windows XP
Google Chrome browser (latest update)
It got to 139 and was still going when I closed it, but my Shockwave application was getting very inflated (500k+, normally runs under 100k) and causing my system to run slow.
Windows XP Pro, Firefox 3.0.5, cable modem, played music and it worked perfectly all the way through. Beautiful work, I’m so envious.
Loaded perfectly on my PC. Dell inspiron 9400 17” laptop. Had one or 2 slight pauses but continued smoothly. Great Work. Your work is refreshing and i always refer to your photography for inspiration. Thank you so much.
Works fine too. Windows XP SP2 via Chrome 1.0.154.43 browser. C2D T5300 1.73GHz 4GB RAM
Played fullscreen with no problems.
Dell Inspiron 9300
Windows XP Service Pack 3
Pentium 2.00 GHz
2.00 GB RAM
Firefox 3.0.5
Works perfectly on my Vista 64 with IE8B2.
Ran fine on my 13” macbook running FF 3.0.5.
Took quite a while to load each image, but that is more due to sitting on the limit of my wifi to stay in the shade out here in the garden…
Viewed it in Firefox 3.0.5 on WinXP with 2GB RAM. It worked absolutely fine on my laptop. I monitored the memory usage, and I think it kept going up until it hit about 500MB and then stayed right there till the finish.
Awesome pics, btw! :-)
Windows Vista, Google Chrome: was able to watch the entire show without a hitch.
Worked perfectly on my intel iMac running Firefox 3.0.5. Amazing images Sol! Hope you two are doing well!
Everything works fine, nice song, may I ask for the name? I use tested for you on windows XP with Google Chrome, Flock, Firefox and IE, all works fine ;)
I was able to watch the slideshow in its entirety without any problems (or noticeable slowdown): Apple PowerMac G5 + Mac OS X Leopard + Safari and Adobe Flash 10.
However, with the slideshow playing in the background, I did notice that during the slideshow transitions it dramatically slowed down any typing or cursor movement when writing this message. As soon as the transition was over, my typing picked up where it left off!
It worked flawlessly on my Toshiba laptop with 2.5 GB of RAM.
Hey man… worked fine here. I started it, clicked all the way through to the end. No slowdowns.
MacPro w/Firefox 3.x
No problems with it slowing down at all though the transitions seemed a little jerky using Firefox 3.0.5 with Windows XP and my six year old laptop.
WORKS fine on my macbook pro 17” using safari ver 3.2.1, with no slow down once i watched it play through i used the arrow an still no lag or slowdown, hope thats of help to you
